/skill

Compose a new bassclef skill from idea to conforming SKILL.md. Runs the taxonomy gate, generates a verb-first plain-English description, scaffolds the frame, and pre-validates. Standard-tier — pending audit at bassclef-web#193.

Copy the command
/skill

Type it bare, or paste it with loose context after — Claude figures out the rest.

Solves

Adopters extend bassclef with new skills but skip the taxonomy gate (skill, rule, hook, or luminary?) or the description-clarity gate. Skills ship with vague names, wrong classification, or descriptions that fail the live clarity check.

Payoff

Runs the taxonomy gate first. Then generates a verb-first plain-English description that passes the clarity gate on first try. Scaffolds the SKILL.md frame — frontmatter, procedure, references — ready to fill in.

Takes in

  • One-sentence intent for the new skill

Returns

  • Scaffolded SKILL.md at .claude/skills/<name>/
  • Verb-first description passing the clarity gate
  • Taxonomy classification with rationale

What it does

Reads your one-sentence intent. Classifies as skill / rule / hook / luminary. Drafts a description that passes the clarity gate before you write any content. Scaffolds the SKILL.md file with frontmatter and section stubs.

You fill in the procedure and refs. The scaffold + description do the parts that agents get wrong.

Where in the SDLC

Why this phase: Meta-adoption skill — you extend the substrate itself. Design because a new skill often follows a decomposition and spec.

Where this goes next

You're at standard tier. The operator-private upgrade layer unlocks ultra tier — embedding shortlist and Claude re-rank across the full 96-luminary catalog, plus everything standard has. Ultra graduation is founder-blessed at launch — operator hand-picks from Substack, Discord, and social. See ADR-006 for the mechanism.
